Tekken World Tour 2020 First Stop: Tokyo Tekken Masters

Get ready for the next battle! After a thrilling conclusion to the 2019 competitive season, the 2020 Tekken World Tour is ready to kick off in a big way in the Land of the Rising Sun.

Following the explosive 2019 TWT Finals in Bangkok, Thailand, the 2020 TWT is scheduled to officially begin in Tokyo, Japan, at the well-loved Tokyo Tekken Masters.

Grab your plane tickets and mark your calendars: this Master Event takes place from April 4 – 5, providing two days chock full of non-stop fighting game action in Japan’s bustling capital city.

As a Master Event, this tournament promises to start the season with high-stakes competition, pitting some of the game’s top-tier talent against one another for crucial TWT points and the coveted title of Tokyo Tekken Masters champion.

This Tokyo-based showdown marks the first of many upcoming stops on the global competition of the Tekken World Tour, with announcements for further Events coming in February.

With Japanese pro Yuta “Chikurin” Take coming fresh off his victory at the 2019 TWT Finals, there’s no telling how the esteemed Geese and Akuma main will fare against his competition after the offseason — but with EVO Japan 2020 in the books, it’s safe to say that players are already testing the waters after crowning the King of the Iron Fist just last month.

That’s not all: 2019’s Tokyo Tekken Masters champ, Pakistani Akuma main “Atif Butt,” took the Master Event over his fellow countryman “Awais Honey” in a showdown that shocked the world. With Pakistani legend and two-time EVO champ “Arslan Ash” also having made one of the biggest splashes in fighting game history last year, it’s no secret that all eyes will be trained on regions from across the globe as pros jockey for position to determine the top players of season 3.

Introducing a slew of new characters like the femme fatale Zafina, Wing Chun master Leroy Smith, and the upcoming Muay Thai fighter Fahkumram, things are already heating up for the 2020 competitive season.

Do you have what it takes to face off with some of the best? Test your might at Tokyo Tekken Masters, but don’t forget — we’re just getting started!
